Francesco Balsano Foundation, formerly Andrea Cesalpino Foundation, was founded in 1985 and its constitutive act was approved by the President of the Italian Republic with D.P.R. 991 of 9 August 1986. Fondazione Francesco Balsano is a non-profit institution with the status of a Moral Entity under the control of the Ministry of University and Scientific Research-MIUR.
In accordance with its Constitutive Act, Francesco Balsano Foundation promotes scientific research particularly in the field of clinical and experimental investigations. The Foundation pursues this aim mainly through the conferment and funding of research assignments to be performed at universities and clinics of the Italian Republic. The Foundation can stipulate agreements to promote scientific research in the biomedical field. The activity of Francesco Balsano Foundation has exclusively the nature of public utilities, excluding any finality of profit.

Today the theme of Artificial Intelligence and its application in the field of health protection is becoming more and more current and debated.Today the theme of Artificial Intelligence and its application in the field of health protection is becoming increasingly topical and debated.
The Foundation opens a new cycle of activities, projected on the horizon of integration between cultures, innovative technologies and human sciences, an interaction between medicine and Artificial Intelligence should be understood in logical continuity with the translational medicine approach so far developed and fine-tuned.
In our view, the Artificial Intelligence applied to medicine will allow the Foundation Francesco Balsano to pursue its one and only goal: to improve the treatment and prevention of human disease.
We are convinced that it is necessary to create new "networks" of transversal knowledge dedicated to the combined use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), nanotechnologies, bioinformatics, biotechnologies, physics and engineering to succeed in changing the entire health sector making it more efficient and productive.
